Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra - the reason I sold it

Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra is an amazing smartphone but still I needed to sell it - here are my top reasons why

Hey guys, welcome to Test and Review! Today, I have some bittersweet news: I decided to sell my Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra. It's a fantastic smartphone, but a few issues led me to switch. Let me share why.

Build Quality and Display

The S22 Ultra is a beautifully crafted phone with premium materials and an amazing display. In my opinion, it has one of the best screens out there, even better than the newer S23 and S24 models. The color reproduction is superior, and the overall feel of the phone is top-notch.

Battery Performance

Despite its many strengths, the S22 Ultra's battery life was a major letdown for me. As an active user, I found myself constantly needing to charge the phone. The battery management isn't great, mainly due to its processor. While newer models like the S23 and S24 have improved battery performance, the S22 Ultra just couldn't keep up with my daily demands.

Connectivity Issues

I also faced issues with Android Auto. When connected via cable, the S22 Ultra would frequently disconnect, making it almost unusable for this purpose. This was a significant inconvenience, especially considering that cheaper Samsung models handled Android Auto without any problems.

Camera Performance

The camera on the S22 Ultra is excellent, but I was a bit disappointed when comparing it to the S24+. I expected more from the newer model, but in some cases, the S22 Ultra still holds its ground. However, the newer cameras have better low-light performance and other enhancements.

Switching to the S24+

Despite my affection for the S22 Ultra, I switched to the S24+ for its improved battery life and better overall performance. However, the S24+ has its own drawbacks, such as less vibrant color reproduction on its display. Samsung's update to address this hasn't fully resolved the issue.

Washed out colors on the Samsung S24 Series

Many users, including myself, have noticed that the Samsung Galaxy S24 series suffers from washed out colors, making the display appear less vibrant compared to earlier models like the S22 Ultra. Despite a Vivid color update from Samsung, the issue persists, affecting the quality of media and daily tasks. 

Enabling features like Eye Comfort Shield can revert the display to its washed out state, further complicating the user experience. This drawback is significant for those who prioritize rich, vibrant color reproduction in their smartphones.

Conclusion

Selling my S22 Ultra was a tough decision. It's a remarkable device with an outstanding display and premium build quality. However, the battery life and connectivity issues were significant enough for me to make the switch to the S24+. If you're looking for a high-end secondhand phone, the S22 Ultra is still a solid choice, provided you can manage its battery limitations.
