Design and features

As soon as you take it out of the box you can see that this is no standard run-of-the-mill TV. LG have done their best to show that this TV is worth every cent of its over 800 USD price. The thin and elegant screen and the barely visible silver bezel show exactly that. The LG 49SJ800V comes with an elegant middle screen stand slightly reminding us of Samsung models. It can be wall-mounted too.

Smart TV comes without asking here too. LG has used their latest Web OS 3.5 for an effortless lag-free experience. Connectivity is not an issue with this TV as you get 4 HDMI ports and 3 USB ports. Bluetooth and Wi-Fi also included. LG 49SJ800V can receive almost any type of signal including satellite signals so you don’t need to buy an external tuner.

Picture and sound quality

As described by LG: "Genuine LED innovation. IPS 4K Nano Cell technology allows for consistent pixel placement one nano meter apart, creating uniform colour volume and outstanding picture quality, even at off center angles".  Nano Cell technology featured in the LG 49SJ800V is a breakthrough technology, which promises a lot, but also delivers. You can check LG's own stand on the topic here: Nano Cell behind the scenes.

The key points here with Nano Cell are: color accuracy and viewing angle. Although this is not OLED, the LG 49SJ800V with help of Nano Cell deliveres great accurate vibrant colors, deep blacks and perfect whites. The viewing angle is so much bigger than that of a normal TV that you will not be able to look at your old TV the same. I can honestly say that here at TestProductReview we were impressed.
Samsung UE50MU6102 review
With such great picture, it's only natural that they'll use good sound too. Well, this is right. LG have used Harman Kardon speakers in the LG 49SJ800V. Its built-in audio is designed and engineered to deliver rich, full-range sound through its two integrated speakers.

Final verdict

The LG 49SJ800V delivers rich and vibrant picture and you'll love its features. The price corresponds the quality you get. You can find it currently around 800 - 1000 USD depending on the seller. However, we say that this is a good deal and this TV's perfect picture is worth every cent!

Have had our LG SM8600 for over a year now and we just love it! When I went tv shopping, it was between the SM8600 and the RU8000. I chose the LG because of the IPS panel which allows great picture color no matter what angle you watch the tv from. The RU8000 s colors wash out when sitting at an angle. I have had Samsung Tvs with the VA panel most of my life and this is the first IPS screen tv. The VA panel usually has better black levels, but for the SM8600 the blacks are more than adequate in a bright or dimly lit room, and the Nano cell technology does make a difference in colour reproduction, in my view at least. After purchasing Samsung tvs all my life I decided to take a gamble on the SM8600 with the IPS panel. Im glad I did and this tv has met all my expectations and more.
